High Carbon technology in ABE PERFORMANCE brake discs

The HIGH CARBON technology consists in the use of steel alloys with a higher content of the element carbon, i.e. the so-called high carbon steel. The composition of carbon in the material is within the range of 0.6%-2.0% and additionally has admixtures of other hardening elements.

Such steel is harder and thus more durable than standard low- and medium-carbon alloys, in which the content of this important element is lower and amounts to 0.2%-0.5%. Brake discs made from high-carburized alloys can withstand force and extremely high temperatures better under braking without deforming.

Brake discs made from alloys with a high carbon content:

  • significantly improve the overall performance of the brakes
  • ensure reliable performance and shorter braking distances
  • increase heat dissipation, thus extending the life of the braking system
  • ensure optimum heat conduction and increase resistance to distortion, i.e. warping of the brake discs
  • prevents the fading effect, i.e. the loss of braking power when the brakes are very hot, which can occur in difficult conditions such as driving on mountain roads with long pedal strokes or dynamic motorway driving with sudden, high-speed braking
  • due to the higher density of high-carbon steel alloys, HIGH CARBON discs exhibit quiet operation, preventing squealing, vibration and jerking of the brakes during braking

ABE PERFORMANCE DISCS WITH ANTI-CORROSION COATING

ABE PERFORMANCE discs are coated with an anti-corrosion coating. This special coating ensures that the parts of the disc that are not in contact with the pad remain free of rust and deposits for most of the service life.

An additional advantage of the coated disc is that it speeds up the assembly procedure in the workshop, where standard discs must be thoroughly cleaned before assembly. Thanks to the anti-corrosion coating with protective varnish, the ABE PERFORMANCE discs enable immediate assembly of the parts right after unpacking.

The coating of the disc also has a positive influence on the appearance and aesthetics of the product. This is particularly important in the case of operation of a car in a moderate climate, where wet autumn and frosty autumn with a large amount of used road salt causes accelerated corrosion of the discs.

ABE PERFORMANCE brake discs have the European ECE R90-2 type-approval in accordance with the requirements for these products.

The ECE R90-2 type-approval has been applied compulsorily for brake discs on vehicles manufactured since 2016. The type-approval confirms the high quality of the brake discs and compliance with all safety requirements imposed on manufacturers of braking systems in motor vehicles.

The ABE PERFORMANCE line of brake pads was developed in cooperation with experienced engineers of brake systems and will satisfy the most demanding users. A number of constructional and material solutions have been worked out to ensure that our pads will perform in all road conditions.

The use of the best compounds without copper content is in line with the trends in health and environmental protection, but above all, it meets the mandatory requirements of the European ECE-R90 type-approval, ensuring total safety for the user.


Our specially formulated compounds ensure the best braking performance and quiet running. They also match OEM quality and the best brake pads available on the aftermarket..

ABE PERFORMANCE PADS WITH SILENCING PLATES

High quality, three-layer silencing pads, the so-called SHIM pads, made in Japan, located on the side of the calliper and the brake piston, contain rubber-metal-rubber layers.

This solution allows to cushion the contact of metal elements, effectively influences silencing and reduces the risk of possible squeaking of brake pads during braking.

ABE PERFORMANCE PADS WITH A GROOVE IN THE MIDDLE

The vertical Y-shaped groove in the centre of a pad’s friction surface (“Y-shape slot”) effectively increases the dust-removal channel when braking and increases the surface area for heat dissipation during braking. As a result, braking is even more effective and the worn friction material is effectively removed from the pad/disc interface.

The special groove is used for most types of pads in the ABE PERFORMANCE range. The exceptions are references with insufficient thickness of friction material, which is impossible to manufacture while maintaining top braking parameters.

ABE PERFORMANCE PADS WITH BRAKE NOISE REDUCTION TECHNOLOGY

Special J-shaped chamfers at the tips of the pad’s friction surface (“J-Chamfer”) help reduce braking noise, increase the area of heat dissipation and reduce the run-in time of new pads.

The chamfers are used on the majority of our PERFORMANCE line of pads, with exceptions where an undersized friction surface does not meet design specifications.

A very comprehensive set of additional mounting components in the kit enables the brake pads to be replaced with all new components required. Complete sets speed up repair in the garage and guarantee the correct functioning of the brake pads once they have been fitted.
